The purpose of this (informal) course is to introduce the audience with the effective deformation and homotopy theories for algebraic structures with the help of operads (and their generalisations). 

 

4. Operadic deformation and homotopy theories

 

One can apply the new aforementioned tools, to develop the deformation and the homotopy theories of algebras over an operad. In both cases, all the constructions are explicit and effective, which is the main strength of the operadic calculus.
