Description

How much weight can a shelf hold. To answer these questions in modern times simulations are run using the finite element methods (FEM). But today there exist so many, it's hard to keep track. I will compare a selection showing mathematical relations and how the beauty of PDEs improves computations, even today. To those that know the FEM, we'll look at DKT element (with and without discrete grandient), Singular Zienkiewicz Triangle, Virtual Elements, Discontinuous Galerkin, Maybe also Morley, HCT and Argyris. Stay hooked and vote for your favourite one!
