DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Lennart Machill\n\nWe discuss the variational modeli
 ng of elastic materials\, with\nparticular emphasis on the principle of fr
 ame indifference. We then turn to an evolutionary problem for Kelvin-Voigt
 -type viscoelastic materials\, revisiting this principle in the time-depen
 dent setting. In the presented model\, dissipated energy is transformed in
 to heat\, and we further consider a thermomechanical coupling with a heat 
 equation. Finally\, we motivate\, both analytically and numerically\, the 
 necessity of a time-discrete frame-indifferent approximation scheme.\n\nht
