Introductory talk for the seminar "The category of l-modular representations of p-adic groups"MPIM

In a recent joint work of the speaker with Jean-François Dat, we show how to decompose the category of \barZ[1/p]-representations of a p-adic group into blocks and prove that each block is equivalent to a depth-zero block, under some assumptions. This talk will provide an overview of the work and sketch the content of a learning seminar that will take places on Thursdays at 2:15pm at the University, room N0.007, starting 16 April. In the learning seminar we will try to get a more in depth understanding of the preprint. It will also include of a range of background talks that might be of independent interest.
