DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Emma Seggewiss (HCM)\, Kanami Ueda\n\nThe Junior Tr
imester Program is primarily addressed to PhD students\, postdocs and youn
g (assistant) professors. Applicants are expected to have completed their
PhD thesis at most 6 years ago. (The six-year deadline can be extended for
researchers with parenting or other caregiving responsibilities.)\nIf a
group of junior scientists wants to apply\, then every member is asked to
complete the application form below. Please do not forget to indicate the
name of group leader and the names of the members. The Letter of Intent sh
ould contain a project description of the group and may be identical for a
ll members.\nThe call for participation will open on July 6\, 2026.\n\n \
 n   Mentors: \n\n      - Matthew Kwan (ISTA)\n      - Richard Mon
 tgomery (Warwick)\n      - Lisa Sauermann (Bonn)\n\n \nExtremal and pr
obabilistic combinatorics is a flourishing mathematical area which has see
n several particularly strong breakthroughs in the past few years. This ju
nior trimester program is aimed at early-career researchers in the area wh
o are within six years of their PhD completion date*. Working at the Hausd
orff Research Institute for Mathematics for one to three months\, the rese
archers will have the opportunity to collaborate in small groups and to fo
rm new connections. The participants of the program will have full flexibi
lity to decide on the research problems they work on\, but will also have
access to more senior mentors for guidance and advice. In addition to week
ly activities such as seminars\, reading groups\, and open problem session
s\, there will also be several workshops and a summer school during the th
ree-month  program. These larger events will be centred around recent dev
elopments in the field\, in particular focusing on the new methods behind
some recent breakthrough results. Following the philosophy of Junior Trime
ster Programs at HIM\, the early-career researchers are themselves the dri
ving force behind the organisation of all of the activities of the program
\, including the selection of external speakers and topics for the worksho
ps and the summer school.\nLink to Junior Trimester Program website\nTrime
ster Program Events\nEach week of the Trimester Program includes numerous
 activities\, such as a seminar series\, lecture series\, reading courses a
nd so on. In addition\, there are some major events\, three workshops and
one summer school. The workshops are aimed at people who are participants
in the Trimester Program at that time. It is not possible to apply only fo
r these workshops. There is a separate application platform for the School
\, which can be found on the School's event page.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nh
