DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Luuk Stehouwer (Dalhousie University)\n\nThe cobordi
sm hypothesis classifies extended topological quantumfield theories (TQFTs
) in terms of algebraic information in the targetcategory. One of the core
principles in quantum field theory - unitarity -says that state spaces ar
e not just vector spaces\, but Hilbert spaces.Recently in joint work with
many others\, we have defined unitarity forextended TQFTs\, inspired by Fr
eed and Hopkins. Our main technical tool is ahigher-categorical version of
  dagger categories\; categories $C$ equippedwith a strict anti-involution
 $\\dagger: C \\to C^{op}$ which is the identityon objects. I explain joint
work in progress with Theo Johnson-Freyd\,Cameron Krulewski and Lukas Mü
ller in which we prove a version of thecobordism hypothesis for unitary TQ
FTs. The main observation is that the\\emph{stably} framed bordism n-categ
ory is freely generated as a symmetricmonoidal dagger n-category with unit
ary duals by a single object: the point.\nhttps://www.mpim-bonn.mpg.de/nod
