Description
The Weighted Fundamental Lemma and its nonstandard variant are the remaining conditional pieces underlying the stabilization of the Arthur-Selberg Trace Formula and many downstream automorphic consequences. Although substantive partial results have been resolved by Ngô and Chaudouard--Laumon (in particular, the case of split groups), the level of generality required to deduce these applications has yet to appear in the literature.
In the first portion of the talk, I will provide enough background to roughly state the required theorem, and then give a high-level overview of the strategies and key ideas in the work of Ngô and Chaudouard--Laumon. After the break, I will outline my work adapting these proofs to the not-necessarily-split setting, emphasizing places where new ideas and arguments were needed.
