In 2000, Langlands proposed a strategy to approach his Functoriality Conjecture, going beyond the special cases known as endoscopic ones. This led to new avenues of research such as the Relative Langlands program, but limited progress has been made on the original problems. In this talk, I will give a gentle introduction to Langlands' original approach to Beyond Endoscopy, Arthur's interpretation of his ideas, and results in the area within the last decade.
