Quantum symmetric pairs (U,B) provide quantum analogues of symmetric pairs of Lie algebras (g,k) and consist of a quantized enveloping algebra U and a coideal subalgebra B. In 2002, Kostant formulated a branching law for symmetric pairs (g,k), which shows that this branching is governed by a reductive subalgebra m=Z_K(a). In this talk, we will explain that this branching law extends to the (quantum) Kac–Moody case over fields of characteristic zero. One of the main ingredients is Watanabe’s notion of integrable modules. This is joint work with Stefan Kolb.
