DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Efthymios Sofos (University of Glasgow/MPIM)\n\nIMPR
S minicourse "Sieving in algebra and geometry"\nThis course explores recen
t advances in the application of classical methods from analytic number th
 eory—such as Brun’s sieve\, the large sieve\, and the Hardy–Littlewo
od circle method—to problems in algebraic number theory and arithmetic g
eometry.\nEmphasis will be placed on the interplay between analytic techni
ques and geometric structures\, with applications including the Cohen–Le
nstra heuristics in the statistical study of class groups and the Batyrev
–Manin conjecture on the distribution of rational points on Fano varieti
es. No prior familiarity with sieves will be assumed.\n\nhttps://math-even
