DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Meredith Shea (Vassar College)\n\nOver the past 25 y
ears\, dimer models have been an active area of research atthe intersectio
n of probability and mathematical physics. However\, a majorityof the work
studying dimer models has been restricted to periodic cases. Inthis talk\
 , I will introduce a non-periodic dimer model which I call the split two-p
eriodic Aztec diamond. I will discuss how the correlation kernel of the mo
delcan be derived and how the scaling limit behavior of the model relates
to thetypical two-periodic Aztec diamond. Time permitting I will discuss e
 xtensionsof this model.\n\nhttps://math-events.uni-bonn.de/event/484/
