DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Pavel Barikin (Hausdorff Center for Mathematics)\n\n
\nIn the last years\, the variational study of materials has drawn upon ne
w advancements in important mathematical approaches and techniques\, inclu
ding for instance peridynamics\, Young measures\, or discrete-to-continuum
analysis. These advanced methods are considered by now fundamental in the
Calculus of Variations applied to materials\, but still constitute a very
active field of research.\nThe aim of this school is to bring together exp
erts in the field to provide PhD students and early-career researchers wit
h an introduction to the most modern techniques in the variational study o
f materials. In addition to the mini-courses and research talks\, there wi
ll be time for interesting discussions\, as well as the opportunity for pa
rticipants to present their own posters!\nThe deadline for the application
for participation is November 30th\, 2025.\nOur Global Mobility Fellowshi
ps provide participation opportunities for selected researchers and PhD st
udents from countries of the Global South in the Special Topic Schools of
the Hausdorff School for Mathematics. For more information\, please visit
 our website.\n \n\nLecture series by:\n\nAndrea Braides (Università di R
oma Tor Vergata)\nIrene Fonseca (Carnegie Mellon University)\nCarolin Krei
sbeck (KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt)\nXavier Lamy (Université de Toulouse)\n\
nAdditional Talks by: \n\nAndré Guerra (University of Cambridge)\nLeonar
d Kreutz (TU München)\nTheresa Simon (Universität Münster)\nAnna Skorob
ogatova (ETH Zürich)\n\nScientific Organizers:\n\nAlice Marveggio (Univer
sity of Bonn)\nAntonio Tribuzio (University of Bonn)\nKonstantinos Zemas (
