I will give an overview how parametrized higher category theory in the sense of Barwick–Dotto–Glasman–Nardin–Shah provides a natural home for equivariant homotopy theory and abstract representation theory. In particular, I will explain how this framework allows to formulate universal properties for oo-categories of equivariant and global spectra.
