In recent years,
the interaction between algebraic geometry and geometric group theory has developed rapidly, with ideas,
methods, and questions from each field coming together and opening up new research directions.
The Special Topic School on
"Interactions between algebraic geometry and geometric group theory"
will cover central topics such as the topology of Kähler groups,
and the behaviour and dynamics of groups of automorphisms and birational transformations of algebraic varieties.
It will feature three mini-courses and several contributed talks by leading experts in the field.
Our primary goal is to help early-career mathematicians learn the core
techniques of both fields, making it easier for them to collaborate and
conduct cross-disciplinary research. Young participants will also have the
opportunity to present their work in lightning talks and in a poster
session.
The deadline for the application for participation is October 26, 2026.
