This HIM School is a week-long event directed at PhD students and recent Postdocs, which will take place within the framework of the Trimester Program "Nonstandard Discretizations of Partial Differential Equations: from Theory to Applications".

The online application platform to participate in the school will be accessible shortly after the due date to apply for participation in the trimester program has expired.

Please note: Application is mandatory, except for PhD students and early career researchers who have already been invited to participate in the Trimester Program.

Researchers from the HCM, in particular, early-career researchers, are welcome upon request.

Everyone will be notified in due time about whether participation and partial financial support is possible. After being selected as participant, you will be invited to register.

Description:

The thematic school covers modern, robust numerical methodologies designed to solve complex and nonlinear Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) where standard finite element methods (FEM) fall short. The program bridges rigorous mathematical analysis with advanced algorithmic design, exploring key core areas including: structure-preserving schemes that maintain discrete maximum principles and global bounds via linear and nonlinear viscosity; mixed finite element formulations for nonlinear multiphysics coupled with fixed-point contractivity analysis; nonconforming methods capable of overcoming the "energy gap" in models with nonstandard, anisotropic growth.
