African-European Early-Career Network for Mathematical Analysis and Related Fields (AEEN-MA)
This is a new project which is launching this year.
The goal is to connect young researchers from Africa and Europe which are working on problems related to mathematical Analysis. At the core of the network is a monthly online meeting where participants can present their research and engage in personal exchange. The philosophy is that each participant can actively shape the networks content and development. By providing an easy-accessible platform to young mathematicians from Africa and Europe we hope to foster new collaborations and broaden the horizon of young researchers.
How the online Sessions are structured
Each session is two hours long: the first 1.5 hours are reserved for math-related talks, the last 30 minutes are open for participants to share their personal interests and engage in conversation. The presentation slots are between 15 and 45 minutes long.
Math-related talks (30/45 min + 5/10 min for questions):
Here you can present your own research. You are not limited to presenting only published results, you may also discuss a (yet) unsolved problem or teach us about a mathematical tool from your field. Please keep the presentation at a basic level so that people with different math backgrounds can also learn something.
Non-math-related talks (15/25 min):
You are invited to present the traditions, food, languages, and so on, of your country. You may also present a special hobby of yours or general trivia on a topic that interests you.
What exactly you choose to talk about is up to you; we encourage you to be creative!
How can I become part of the network?
If you are interested in joining, we kindly ask you to register on this website. As a registered participant you will be invited to our monthly online sessions and have access to the contact information of all other members.
If you would like to contribute a talk within the next six sessions, please register as a speaker (this is possible until the 21.12.25), else please register as a participant. If you missed the first deadline or are not sure yet if you want to contribute something: don't worry, you will have another chance to sign up as a speaker at a later time.
To allow the network to grow gradually over time, we pursue a “by-invitation open door” model, that is, each member can invite one colleague or friend per session who might be interested in joining.
In a nutshell
